The traditional CSA box program comes in the form of a pre-packed share that is delivered to a central community hub in Toronto. Currently our drop off locations are Bloor/Dovercourt, St Clair/Christie and Leslieville area.
Shares are delivered every second Wednesday from late May until early November, with 14 deliveries in total, and can be picked up from 3pm until 7pm.
We aim for 12 seasonal items in each basket and the produce is packed based on what is available on the farm at any given time. Early spring baskets typically have less than 12 items as the harvest is just beginning.
At Wheelbarrow Farm we grow over 40 different types of vegetables. Here are some of the items you would typically see in your share throughout the season: potatoes, asparagus, rhubarb, peppers, strawberries, carrots, beets, cauliflower, basil, tomatoes, eggplants, raspberries, cabbage, napa, bok choi, kale, rainbow chard, onions, leeks, broccoli, butternut squash, delicata squash, zucchini, patty pans, jerusalem artichokes, radish, green onion, parsley, spinach, lettuce, arugula, and many more.
CSA members are rewarded with a discount compared to farmers’ market prices. This is our little “Thank you” for become farm members. On any given week, the amount of vegetables in the baskets are 10-15% greater than for the same price at market. The cost of a share for a full season is $400.
