2022 CSA Vegetable Baskets

How Does It Work?

By joining our Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program you become a member and own a "share" of the year's harvest. CSA "shareholders" pay for their produce before the start of the growing season, which helps the farm with start-up funds to purchase seeds, and supplies. As a member of a CSA, you know get to know your farmer and exactly where and how your food has been grown!

What will I receive as part of my vegetable share?

--> Wheelbarrow Farm's CSA members receive a pre-packed basket of freshly harvested and washed vegetables. We aim for 10-11 seasonal items in each basket, which is packed the morning of delivery.  Most items have been harvested that very morning, so you are receiving the freshest vegetables possible! We grow over 50 different types of vegetables, so you are guaranteed a wide variety throughout the season. Some baskets will also include fruit such as rhubarb, strawberries, pears (or other stone fruit we may source from another farm).

Please note that early spring baskets are typically on the small side, but baskets at peak season of mid to late summer are more bountiful.

If demand is high, we may occasionally source an item from our friends at Zephyr Organics or Lunar Rhythm Gardens (both are local, and certified organic).

Check out photos below to see some of our baskets!

-->  Members will receive an email a few days before each pick up, listing the items they can expect in their basket so they can start meal planning.  They will also receive delicious recipes for the items in that basket and vegetable storage tips to keep your produce fresh as long as possible.

-->  Members have access to our online store where you can purchase add-ons such as extra vegetables from our farm (seasonal items, special items with limited quantities, bulk priced items, seedlings in the spring and flowers) as well as locally produced products (eggs, fruit, honey, syrup, preserves, and more). The store is curated with products from small businesses, many are from your local farmers' market. Add-on items are purchased in advance and your order is picked up with your vegetable basket.

--> Members also have access to our trades bin at each pick up location. Our staff have an extra basket of items so if there is something you don't care for in your basket, you can swap out with something else from the trades bin.

--> Private Facebook group for CSA members! We have an awesome online space for our CSA community to connect, share their favourite recipes and find new ways to prepare and cook unique vegetables,. You'll also receive free chef led cooking demos, fun behind the scenes stuff from the farm, contests and much more!
